By getting involved as a member of a committee, now only will you have a pedigreed introduction to many members of Ottawa’s business community, but best of all, you get to have fun doing it with a group of positive successful business women.   • Businesswoman of the Year Award (BYA) Gala Committee

    The BYA Committee, working with a professional Event Planner, is responsible for the Businesswoman of the Year Awards Gala - the WBN’s premiere event.We secure BYA-specific sponsorships, and plan all aspects of the gala evening from staging, décor, and food to music, VIPs, Emcee, gifts and prizes. Once the Nominating and Awards Committee has announced the nine Finalists, the BYA Committee coordinates the Finalist - Sponsor Reception, numerous media interviews, photographs and videos. The committee works with the communications committee, KISS 105.3, Rogers Television, Ottawa Business Journal, and Metroland Media to market and provide media coverage. The year-long gala planning cycle culminates in April with one of Ottawa’s premier business award events.

  • Businesswoman of the Year Award (BYA) Nominating & Awards Committee

    The Nominating/Awards committee has the exciting mandate of helping to increase the profile of the WBN members through recognition of their achievements. The committee also encourages members to develop their leadership skills through participation on the WBN Board and plays a role in celebrating the success of all women in business via the Businesswoman of the Year Award (BYA). We learn about amazing businesswomen in our network and in Ottawa, solicit recognition from other organizations for our talented members, and help plan a great celebration of the success of businesswomen. WBN also sponsors three annual scholarships for female students in recognition of their scholastic and leadership achievements.

  • Golf Committee

    The Golf Committee’s mandate is to increase the profile of the Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be recognized as one of Ottawa’s premiere networking golf tournaments. Proceeds that are raised with the support of sponsors and attendees are dedicated to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s “Healthy Women, Healthy Community” initiative, which is committed to women’s health in our region. With their leading-edge technology and ground-breaking procedures, The Ottawa Hospital is a critical resource for thousands of women dealing with chronic health problems and/or a difficult diagnosis.   • Marketing & Communications Committee

    The Marketing and Communications Committee raises awareness of WBN members, WBN initiatives, Partners, and Sponsors. With our focus on social media, we position WBN as THE respected forum where businesswomen of integrity & diverse backgrounds openly connect and are inspired. In direct support of the WBN purpose, “To Inspire women in their business lives”, we foster community engagement both to WBM members and to the broader business community.

  • Membership Committee

    The Membership Committee welcomes new members to the WBN and is the point of contact for inquiries by our current members and prospective members. The Membership Committee also coordinates the popular monthly Mix & Mingle Breakfasts. These breakfasts allow for a friendly welcome into the WBN for our new and prospective members, in more relaxed environment with a focus on networking.

    The Program Committee is responsible for the planning and organizing of the WBN's monthly events with the exception of the annual BYA Gala and the Golf Tournament. The monthly events are planned around areas of interest to our membership such as networking, professional development, hands-on learning and, of course, fun.

  • Partnership/Sponsorship Committee

    The Sponsorship committee works with other committees seeking sponsorship and then assists in identifying and approaching potential sponsors. We ensure benefit delivery and proper communication of the sponsorship program, liaise with sponsors, coordinate appropriate methods of thanking sponsors, and document and update the sponsorship program as required.
