Looking back on the past twelve months I’ve been asking myself, “What did I accomplish in 2018?”

And what becomes obvious is all the personal and professional growth that took place. And when I tally up all the stuff I did, all the books I read, all the classes I attended, all the coaching I invested in, this is what I come up with:

How much friggin’ personal growth was I in need of?!?!

Then I laugh at myself and give thanks that I’ve met all the people that were able to help me or point me in the right direction in 2018.
How about YOU? Did you learn new things in 2018? Did you grow? Did you finally tackle some of those gremlins that have been annoying you? Did you finally invest in YOURSELF?
I certainly don’t expect anyone to answer these questions for everyone to see here. But what I do want to share is that as a business owner, the journey isn’t always smooth or easy. All of us need help once in a while…whether it’s a podcast that lifts us up, a book that gave us encouragement, or a friend who supported us.
Being an entrepreneur can be lonely and hard. I certainly found that out over the past 2 years. But I also found a lot of help along the way. Today I’d like to share some of the resources that have been particularly helpful to me in 2018.
Please check these out (specially online resources like Facebook groups and podcasts) and add them to your toolkit. You never know when you’ll need them.

BOOKS

You’re a Badass, by Jen Sincero
Honestly, I think this should be mandatory for any adult who wants to love him/herself a little more. Plus she’s hilarious (warning: she uses some fairly foul “adult” language).
Tapping into Wealth, by Margaret M. Lynch
This book is perfect for anyone who has “money issues”….and is willing to get a little “woo woo” and do some EFT tapping.

AUDIOBOOKS

Marketing Lessons from Under the Influence, by Terry O’Reilly
Terry is a wonderful narrator. His book is an amazing collection of branding, marketing, and advertising wisdom. The man really knows how to tell a story-and make your drive more enjoyable.
Playing Big, by Tara Mohr
A great listen on the ways women are “staying small” and how to get out of the no-confidence trap. Another great listen as you drive.

PODCASTS

The Journey, with Gina Schreck. This podcast offers support to all entrepreneurs, because Gina knows entrepreneurship is a hard road…and she “doesn’t want you to go it alone.”
Here’s the one where she interviewed me, back in September :-)
Being Boss, with Kathleen Shannon and Emily Thompson.
Although primarily aimed at creative entrepreneurs, this podcast also deals extensively with any of the issues that plague business owners.

FACEBOOK GROUPS

Genuine Social Tribe, with Jennifer Walker. You can’t go wrong hanging out and learning with Jenn.
The Good Human Experiment, with Rachela Brasindi.
This is a private FB group, so check out the website, then ask to join the group. This group is all about spreading kindness in the world and sharing feel-good, helping stories.

COACHING

This year I invested in my business and worked with Diana Lidstone. If your business needs direction and you need to figure out how to clean things up, check out Diana.
She made me think about stuff I’d never considered. The bonus is that she helped me see my value and believe in myself.
And there you have it. Those are the places where I went for help this year. If you feel stuck or need inspiration, here’s my list.
And these books were absolutely key in getting my mindset back on track.
I wish you a great holiday and a very successful New Year. I know how hard you work, and sometimes it just helps to know there’s others just like you out there.
Have a wonderful 2019.
